No more burden, please!

From Koran Tempo

President Megawati Soekarnoputri and Vice President Hamzah Haz stated that making a deliberate consensus would be preferable in making decisions at the upcoming People's Consultative Assembly's (MPR) Annual Session in August, especially on the fourth amendment of the 1945 Constitution.

Politicians, observers and the media have quickly reacted to the statements.

As an everyday person, who always struggles to make ends meet, rather than observe political issues, I am of the opinion that the political elite's arguments have led to a conflict of interest among them. But this has become more of a burden to people like me.

With the economic crisis showing no signs of slowing, political discourses developed by the political elite have raised the political temperature before the MPR Annual Session. This has deteriorated the people's way of life and become burdensome for the country.

Megawati's and Hamzah's preference to a consensus, or a voting system to make decisions at the MPR session, should not be politicized.

Whatever the political elite takes, please don't put the burden on the people.
