No jobs at Garuda

JAKARTA (JP): National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia announced yesterday it would not recruit new employees because it had "more than enough" personnel.

Company spokesman Pudjobroto said "Garuda has applied a zero growth policy in its human resources division".

He said Garuda would recruit internally to fill positions when necessary.

"Garuda has announced this to avoid any possible wrongdoing by certain parties which manipulate Garuda to make it seem the airline is looking for new employees," he said.

The company recently introduced a Rp 2 million to Rp 5 million charge for anyone intending to apply for a position with it.

He said Garuda would advertise in the local media when vacancies arose. (icn)
