No flags in posh areas

From Neraca

I would like to express my concern over the failure of many residents in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, to hoist national flags during the celebration of the independence day, which runs counter to the Jakarta Governor's instruction. Along Jl. Sutan Sjahrir, for example, many families were not hoisting the red and white flags and no gate-ways were erected.

I wondered why they did not pay heed to the governor's instruction? Is their sense of nationalism eroding? Or simply because they are elite people? If they cared to visit the other parts of the city, particularly the shanties, they would see people were in festivity and holding many activities in connection to the observance of Independence Day.
