No cases of bird flu in RI: Minister
JAKARTA: Minister of Health Siti Fadilah Supari said that no cases of bird flu has been found among poultry or humans in Indonesia.
"The public should not hesitate to consume poultry and its products, under the condition that it has to be boiled first," she said on Thursday.
She said reports that thousands of chickens in Indonesia had been killed by bird flu from January to April last year were incorrect. The deaths were caused by a seasonal virus, she said.
The minister made the statement amid fresh reports of bird flu cases in a number of regions in the country.
The government has also urged provincial administrations throughout the country to enforce vaccination programs for poultry to prevent the spread of bird flu. -- Antara.
