Nissan seeks economy in luxury
TOKYO: Nissan Japan is spending about US$23 million to build production lines for more economical, high-performance engines for its luxury cars.
The engines are scheduled to come on stream in 2000. The lines will process molded parts and perform final assembly of the VQ V6 engine with displacements of 2.0-liters and 3.0-liters.
Nissan also plans to produce a direct-injection engine that is even more fuel efficient than the VQ.
