Nirmala's relatives return home

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: Martha Bonat Toni and Daniel Bire, the mother and uncle of abused maid in Malaysia Nirmala Bonat, arrived in Kupang on Sunday night after they spent almost a week with Nirmala in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.

The two were flown to Malaysia under the sponsorship of the Indonesian government, in a bid to give support for Nirmala, who has recently been abused by her employer.

Nirmala's legal process in Malaysia has just begun, which requires her to be present. Her employers claim innocence and allege that the 19-year-old maid's injuries were self inflicted. -- JP
