Nippondenso helps supply Timor
TOKYO: Japanese component manufacturer, Nippondenso, plans to help South Korean parts maker, Poong-sung Electric Co, supply components for Indonesia's Timor car.
Poong-sung is an affiliate of Kia Motor Corp and plans to build a plant in Indonesia to manufacture starter motors and other electronic components.
However, the Japanese firm's offer of help will be limited to technological areas and introducing parts suppliers because the company does not want to offend Japanese, U.S. and European carmakers who have complained about the tax concessions Timor receives.
Nippondenso already has a plant in Indonesia producing air- conditioning systems and radiators for a number of local assemblers.
