Nine-year-old dies in blaze

DENPASAR, Bali: A nine-year-old child was killed when a fire
razed at least 14 houses in a complex belonging to the Udayana
Regional Military Command in Kuta subdistrict, 15 kilometers
south of here, on Sunday morning, Antara reported on Monday.

The blaze started in one of the houses and quickly spread to
other buildings, including a kiosk selling gasoline, Badung Fire
Department chief I Wayan Suteja said on Monday.

Seven fire engines were deployed to the scene and
firefighters, with the help of local residents, put out the blaze
about four hours later.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
