Nine provinces to attend horse racing event in Pulomas

JAKARTA (JP): Nine provinces will take part in an event at the Pulomas horse track in East Jakarta on Sunday, which is being organized by the Indonesian Equestrian and Horse Racing Association (Pordasi) and information technology company PT Citra Candika.

"There will be horses from Central Java, East Java, East Nusa Tenggara, Jakarta, Lampung, North Sulawesi, West Java, West Sumatra and Yogyakarta participating in Sunday's 12 races," said PT Citra Candika director Ronaldy J. Moenek in a written statement on Friday.

Pordasi, in cooperation with PT Citra Candika, will launch a website on Indonesian horses during the event.

The website can be accessed at www.kudaindonesia.com. It will contain information on the types of horses found in Indonesia, as well as on the activities of Pordasi.

Another company executive, Nieke Tjiptokusumo, said the website would give the public information on horses and horse racing in the country.

"Horse-related activities have yet to get the proper attention here, although they can attract more income for the country. Despite the fact that Indonesia produces racehorses, there has been too little media coverage of horse racing," she said.

"We expect the site will provide a positive contribution in spreading information about Indonesian horse," she added. (nvn)
