Nigeria orders CN-235

JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Industry and Trade Luhut Binsar Panjaitan said on Monday that Nigeria has ordered 20 CN-235 aircraft from state-owned plane manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia.

The aircraft will be bartered for crude oil, he said without disclosing how much oil Nigeria will give Indonesia under the barter scheme.

"They (Nigeria) don't have the money to pay in cash," Luhut was quoted by news portal Detikcom.

He said that the barter agreement would be signed on May 30 and the delivery of the planes would be undertaken in stages.

This is not the first time that Dirgantara aircraft has sold its products through barter schemes.

For instance, Thailand swapped glutinous rice for aircraft produced by the company in the early 1990s. (tnt)
