Nice experience with a hotel
I would like to share my "nice experience" staying at Westin Plaza Hotel in Singapore. We (three of us from Jakarta) checked in on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997 and checked out on Saturday, Sept. 27, 1997.
We booked three rooms but when we checked in at the hotel around 3 p.m., the receptionist said we only had booked two rooms. After an argument, we called our local Singapore office (who had made the reservation for us) to talk to the hotel in order to clear things up. We were then able to move into all three rooms.
After moving into my room, I went out of the hotel and returned around midnight to see that all my things (including my passport) were spread in front of my bedroom door (room 1411). I knew there was somebody inside (another guest?). I called to the front desk and found out that the hotel had (mistakenly?) given my room to another guest, who was "kind enough" to throw all my things outside the door instead of calling the hotel's staff to solve the problem.
The hotel then gave me another room (room 1141) and I moved in around half past midnight. I checked my luggage and found nothing was missing, except for some food which I left in my previous room's refrigerator.
Finally, the best part of all was when I checked out. The hotel charged me for the mini-bar and telephone bill which were used on Sept. 24, 1997 before midnight (which means I was not in room 1141 yet).
For all the above "minor problems", the hotel redressed me with many apologies, for which I thanked them a lot. What a nice experience visiting Singapore and staying at a nice (five-star?) hotel. Wanna try?
