NGOs protest nepotism in Bali
DENPASAR (JP): About 30 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) marched on Monday to the Bali provincial council to protest the suspected recruitment of new civil servants in the province.
Putu Suasta, one of protesters, said many councillors were often promoting their own relatives for civil servant posts rather than thinking about the province's development.
Putu claimed that most of the new civil servants enrolled were also relatives of councillors or senior officials.
Provincial council speaker Ida Bagus Putu Wesnawa said he was fully committed to a clean government.
"We are committed to reform," Ida said as he desperately tried to assure the skeptical activists.(zen)
