NGO sends aid to Pakistan

JAKARTA: The Concern for People and Justice Center, a non- governmental organization, sent a doctor and humanitarian aid package to earthquake-devastated Pakistan on Sunday.

Three more doctors will join the NGO's medical team on Tuesday, bringing with them medicines and other health supplies.

The first doctor to depart for Pakistan, Amir Zuhdi, said the NGO had allocated Rp 200 million (US$20,000) to buy medicines, tents, blankets and wheat for victims of the natural disaster.

During the relief mission, the Indonesian doctors will focus on sanitation work, Amir said.

He called on more people and organizations in Indonesia to help the quake victims in Pakistan in the same way that many foreign countries helped out when the tsunami devastated parts of Aceh and Nias last December. -- Antara
