Newmont clarifies

First of all, we thank you for publishing an article on the
humanitarian aid from Newmont Mining Corporation for earthquake
and tsunami victims entitled Companies continue to pour aid into
Aceh, N. Sumatra, in The Jakarta Post of Jan. 17 on page 13.

Nevertheless, we would like to make a correction. The article
stated "About 200 Newmont employees and their families were
killed or were missing in the disaster". It should have read
"Approximately 200 relatives and family members of Newmont
employees are either victims or missing in the disaster".

As such, no Newmont employees were killed or missing.
