New Year galas on budget

JAKARTA: The maximum cover charge for New Year's Eve celebrations at five-star hotels and other international entertainment places in the city is Rp 5 million, according to a gubernatorial decree issued on Wednesday.

Decree No.158/2002 also stipulates that the entrance fee for events at three- and four-star hotels should not exceed Rp 3 million.

As for cafes, pubs, restaurants or other, similar places, the maximum cover charge is Rp 1 million, while the maximum price for tickets to movie theaters is Rp 300,000.

All printed entrance tickets or invitations should be authorized by the City Revenue Agency no later than seven days before the event.

Organizers of all performances should also obtain approval from the governor.

Any establishment that violates the rule will be temporarily closed down.

On New Year's Eve, Governor Sutiyoso would be at Ancol Dreamland, North Jakarta, to watch a folk party and fireworks, said city administration spokesman Muhayat.

He is due to visit Taman Mini park in East Jakarta beforehand and tour the city to monitor the situation. --JP
