New website on Kalimantan

YOGYAKARTA (JP): Those who are interested in learning more about Kalimantan can now visit www.kalteng.net to obtain detailed information on the island.

The new website was launched in a ceremony at Century International Hotel in Yogyakarta last Friday.

Central Kalimantan Deputy Governor Nahfon Taway led the ceremony which was attended by hundreds of students from Kalimantan who are studying in Yogyakarta, public figures from Kalimantan living in Yogyakarta and dozens of journalists.

The coordinator of the Kalimantan Center of Information Network (JARI PUSAKA), Wawan Wiraatmaja, told The Jakarta Post the new website aimed to be an important source of information on Kalimantan, especially Central Kalimantan.

"The website is run from Yogyakarta, where most of its editors are studying here," said Wawan, a student of Gadjah Mada University's School of Engineering.

"We also have many correspondents in Kalimantan and other cities in Indonesia who provide us with the latest reports on Kalimantan," he added.

Asked about the amount of money invested in the website, Wawan said: "Don't ask about the money. It's very small compared to most websites in Indonesia." (23)
