New secretary at crime investigation office

JAKARTA (JP): City Police Chief Maj. Gen. Dibyo Widodo
installed Lt. Col. Edi Darnadi, 44, as the new secretary of the
city police crime investigation directorate yesterday, replacing
Lt. Col. M.D. Primanto.

Edi is a former head of the economic crime section of the
directorate.

In a speech, Jakarta Crime Investigation Directorate chief
Col. Nurfaizi, who represented Dibyo, said he hoped that the new
official would be able to solve the numerous problems that the
directorate is currently facing.

Primanto has been pursuing studies at the Indonesian Armed
Forces School for Staff and Commanders for the past month.

Edi, formerly chief the North Jakarta police precinct, is one
of only a few senior detectives in the city police force.

Married with three children, Edi graduated from the Indonesian
Armed Forces Academy in Magelang, Central Java, in 1974.

He was formerly chief of the Depok police precinct. (bsr)
