New phone service

JAKARTA (JP): State-owned PT Telkom, in collaboration with PT Ambhara Perdana, has launched a new telephone service, called TelePIN, which allows users to make calls from any pay-phone by using a personal identification number (PIN).

Telkom said in a statement that people could buy TelePIN cards, which applies the calling card system, at any place selling telephone cards. The prices are Rp 2,500, Rp 5,000 and Rp 20,000.

Calls will be charged based on normal rates set by Telkom.

The PINs are also functional as passwords. Through any phone, including pay phones, users are only required to dial the toll- free number 0-0800-1-007-007 or 12007 to use the service.

Users will be informed when their PINs expire. (icn)
