New oil wells found in E. Java

BOJONEGORO, East Java: Local residents in the Bojonegoro village of Beji have discovered 26 new oil wells after the earlier finding of two wells in the neighboring villages of Mojodelik and Sukowati.

The 26 new oil wells are located in the Beji forest, Jiyanto, who heads a village cooperative unit managing local wells, said here on Sunday.

Jiyanto said that compared to the oil wells in Wonocolo and Hargomulyo villages, which were discovered in the traditional way, the newly-found oil wells were much bigger.

Citing an example, he said the Bogo Sasono well (BS.02), which had already been dug and was in operation, could produce an estimated 25,000 liters of crude oil per day.

He further said that the new wells would not be managed by his cooperatives, but by local people, the state oil company Pertamina, and a Jakarta-based private sector company, PT Trifika Metha Patra Wiseska.
