New office slated for Kalideres
Governor Surjadi Soedirdja said the city administration would build a new subdistrict office for the Kalideres subdistrict, West Jakarta, to replace the present one which is in a dilapidated state.
"We have been considering it for a long time, but the realization of the project depends on the government's financial ability," Surjadi said in response to question from a resident of the subdistrict. Surjadi visited Kalideres over the weekend.
The present Kalideres subdistrict office, built in 1975, is located amid slum areas connected only by narrow alleyways.
Surjadi said the city administration had allotted a 1,270 square-meter site for the new subdistrict office building not far from major roads and one house at the Citra Garden housing complex for the official residence of the subdistrict head.
Surjadi also announced that Kalideres would get an elementary school building which will be built on a 7,000 square-meter site.
On the occasion, Achmad Suwaidi, another Kalideres resident, asked the governor to move the present Kalideres bus terminal to Rawabuaya, also in West Jakarta, as soon as possible because there are many disturbances at the present terminal.
The construction of the Rawabuaya terminal is scheduled to be completed in 1997. (arf)
