New military district chief

TANGERANG (JP): Jakarta Military Commander Maj. Gen. Sjafrie
Syamsoedin installed Lt. Col. Herman Rozanie yesterday as the new
chief of the Tangerang military district, replacing Lt. Col.
Karseno.

Herman previously served as an officer at the Jakarta Military
Command, while Karseno has been promoted to assistant to the
command's intelligence deputy.

Sjafrie said at the installation ceremony that two new
military subcommands would be established to increase efficiency
and cooperation among military bases in Greater Jakarta.

The two new subcommands will be located in Tangerang and
Bekasi, he said.

"Details on the establishment of the new subcommands are
currently being worked out," he said.

The Tangerang military subcommand will oversee the Tangerang,
South Jakarta and West Jakarta military districts, while the
Bekasi subcommand the Bekasi, East Jakarta and North Jakarta
military district.

The Central Jakarta military district will remain as an
independent district, he said. (41)
