New Japanese ambassador arrives
JAKARTA: New Japanese ambassador to Indonesia Yutaka Limura has arrived here and is scheduled to deliver his credentials to President Megawati Soekarnoputri soon.
However, there is not yet a set schedule for Limura to meet the President, and the presidential office said it would be after the celebration of the Indonesia's Independence Day on Aug. 17.
Limura was assigned to replace ambassador Yukio Takeuchi, who was appointed as Japan's new deputy foreign affairs minister earlier this year.
The new ambassador is a senior diplomat who has been with the Japanese foreign affairs ministry since 1969.
Before being appointed as an ambassador to Indonesia, he was assistant vice minister of administrative affairs at the foreign ministry since August 2001.--JP
