New insurance club launched
INSURERS GET NEW CLUB: The director for insurance of the Ministry of Finance, Sophar L. Toruan (center), on behalf of director general of financial institutions Bambang Soebianto, officially launched the Indonesian Insurance Club (IIC) yesterday.
Members of the exclusive club, established by the foreign affairs department of the Indonesian Insurance Council, are chief executive officers or staffers of insurance companies as well as executives of non-insurance companies with interests in the insurance industry.
IIC chairman Eduard Sindal (left) said the club will serve as a forum between insurers and their clients. "The club could also work as a marketing network of the insurance industry," he told club members at the launching ceremony, in which Marzuki Usman (right), the chairman of the Association of Indonesian Economists and a former director for insurance of the Ministry of Finance, gave a welcoming address for the new organization, the only insurance club in the country.
Eduard said the IIC will operate under the guidance of the insurance council, which has been appointed as the lone counterpart of the government in the insurance industry.
"The club is expected to promote cooperation between insurance companies and clients, who need the service to cover any potential risks," he said. (hen)
