New golf magazine launched

JAKARTA (JP): A new English language golf magazine was launched on Monday, focussing primarily on golf in Indonesia.

The magazine called Golf Magazine of Indonesia has 50 pages and is priced at Rp 25,000 per edition.

Dennis G. Kloeth, the magazine's editor said on Monday that the magazine will be published every two months with a circulation of 20,000 copies.

"A majority of the magazines will be distributed overseas where our intention is to bring in more golfers to play in Indonesia," Kloeth said.

Kloeth said he was annoyed that golf in Indonesia is not so popular overseas although the country has good golf courses. "Frankly speaking, golf courses in Indonesia are better than overseas but they are not promoted well."

He stated that Indonesia's poor economic and political situation may be the reason golfers do want to come to Indonesia.

"Through the magazine, I want to tell them (foreigners) that Indonesia is safe and they are welcome to come here," Kloeth said.

He added that the contents of the magazine will also include details on golf courses in Indonesia and sights the golfers wish to see.

"The magazine will also provide information on attractions the golfers can visit when they come to Indonesia. We will also include prices of golf equipment to the readers," Kloeth said. (lnt)
