New device in radiology

Pertamina General Hospital, owned by the state oil company, has installed a new device in radiology named Helical- computerized Tomography Scanning or popularly known as Helical C.T. Scan.

The hospital chief, Prof. Satyanegara, said over the weekend that the new device worth Rp 2 billion (US$914,913) is the first ever operated in Indonesia.

He said that the application of Helical C.T. Scan has many advantages, including better pictures of human organs and pictures in three-dimensional view.

He added that the new device is expected to enable doctors to both improve and expedite diagnoses.

Prof. Satyanegara said that patients who are diagnosed using the Helical C.T. Scan will be charged between Rp 250,000 to Rp 350,000 each time the device is applied.

He said the presence of the device is a must if the hospital is to present the best and up-to-date medical services to the community. (mas)
