New chief for North Jakarta military district
JAKARTA (JP): Jakarta Military Commander Maj. Gen. Sutiyoso installed Lt. Col. M. Erwin S. yesterday as the new chief of the North Jakarta military district, replacing Lt. Col. Hari Krisnomo.
Sutiyoso said that North Jakarta was a strategic area housing Tanjung Priok sea port and numerous entertainment centers, and the Thousands Islands tourist resorts.
"I hope the new chief can forge good cooperation with other government leaders and people to maintain North Jakarta's security," Sutiyoso said in a ceremony on Jl. Danau Sunter Selatan Podomoro, North Jakarta.
Erwin, a former chief of the intelligence detachment at the military command, was the Armed Forces Academy's best graduate in 1982.
He spent much of his military service in Irian Jaya before becoming the as chief of the Bogor military district intelligence detachment.
After serving as intelligence detachment chief at the Sriwijaya Military Command in Palembang, South Sumatra, he moved to the Jakarta Military Command.
Hari has been promoted to sociopolitical deputy assistant at the Jakarta military command. (jun)
