New cement plant ready
CILACAP, Central Java (JP): PT Semen Nusantara Cilacap will start commercial operations at its new cement plant here in December to triple its production capacity to 4.1 million tons per annum.
The company's general affair manager Tri Bowo R.H. said here last week that his company will transport the raw materials for the new plant from notorious Nusakambangan prison island, about one kilometer south of here.
The company has laid a 900-meter electricity cable 25 meters below sea level to Nusakambangan from the mainland to support its operations on the island. The laying of the cable, carried out by Cherrington Drilling Service of Australia, cost US$1.5 million. (wah/rid)
