New bridge links Bogor villages

BOGOR: Residents living in the Bogor regency villages of Leuwi Karet, Klapa Nunggal district, and Tajur, Citeurep district, can now visit each other with ease after a bridge connecting the two villages was inaugurated on Wednesday.

"For 20 years we have been expecting to have this kind of bridge because previously we had to use a bridge made of coconut tree trunks and bamboo," Leuwi Karet resident Eman said.

The 50-meter-long bridge was built by cement producer PT Indocement following a proposal submitted by Leuwi Karet residents.

"It used to take one hour to reach Citeureup market but now it only takes 10 minutes," Eman added.

The Rp 600 million bridge was inaugurated for use by Bogor deputy regent Nana Suryana.

Indocement human resource development director Iwa Kartiwa expressed hope that residents could improve their lives because of the new bridge. - JP
