SEMARANG, Central Java (Antara): An Australian investor in cooperation with PT Kysor Warren Indonesia (KWI) will invest Rp 6.5 billion (around US$2.7 million) in an air-conditioner (AC) plant in Semarang, an official said.

Around 80 percent of the factory's production would be sold at home and the remainder for overseas market, he said.

At present all kinds of technical and administrative qualifications submitted by the prospective Australian investos through its local partner had been approved.

He also said the factory's existence was expected to spur the growth and development of industries in the province.

He hoped that the factory would employ a great number of local people as well as increase the income of the local community.

The factory would absorb 61 workers, consisting of 54 Indonesians and 7 expatriates.
