Neighboring countries join Medan fair

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Three southeast Asian countries,
Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand are participating in an
international tourism fair entitled "North Sumatra International
Travel Fair", held in Medan, the capital of North Sumatra
province.

The international fair was kicked off on Friday by Sapta
Nirwandar, the secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Culture.

In the week-long fair, the three countries and also host
country Indonesia are exhibiting dozens of stands that promote
tourism, culture, education and even medical services.

The organizing official, Henry Hutabarat, expected that the
international fair would be attended by some 2,000 to 3,000
spectators each day. -- JP
