Navy plans to buy Russian ship
JAKARTA: The Indonesian navy plans to purchase a Russian troop ship, Navy Chief Admiral Arief Kushariadi was quoted by Antara as saying here yesterday.
Negotiations with Moscow to buy the 8,000-tonne ship "is almost done," Kushariadi said, but did not elaborate on the cost of the ship.
He said the navy would also like to buy warships from Russia and other countries, including the Ukraine, "but that would depend on government finances."
Indonesia bought 39 used warships from Germany in 1994. (swe)
