Navy, Air Force in war drill
SURABAYA: The Navy and the Air Force launched a joint war exercise to defend the nation's territorial waters at the Navy's Eastern Fleet Command in Surabaya on Tuesday, Antara reported.
The command's chief, Rear Admiral Edi Suyadi, said the drill was intended to enhance the forces' operational capability and alertness in protecting Indonesia's territorial jurisdiction, including the 200 nautical mile-economic exclusive zone.
The joint exercise, involving 160 Navy personnel and 40 Air Force personnel, is being led by Navy Commodore Ferdinand A. Manengkei, the chief of the Eastern Fleet Command's Sea Battle Task Force.
Antara did not say when the exercise will end. (01)
