National week of farmers, fishermen

JAKARTA: President Megawati Soekarnoputri has expressed her intention to attend the Contact Forum for the National Week of Farmers and Fishermen, slated to be held in Tasikmalaya, West Java, from Oct. 20 through Oct. 25.

"The President will come on Oct. 23," Minister of Agriculture Bungaran Saragih said, as quoted by Antara, after handing an invitation for the event to the President at Merdeka Palace.

Accompanied by West Java Governor R. Nuriana, Saragih said, during the meeting with the President, that the farmers would share their experiences on increasing their productivity.

A business meeting and an exhibition will also be held during the occasion, he added. -- Antara
