National team reaches final

JAKARTA (JP): The National Bermuda Bowl team and the Pattimura Bridge Club reached the eight-session final of the Bermuda Bowl and Venice Cup bridge simulation match at the Senayan Bridge Center on Thursday.

The national team defeated Dolphin BC 223-154 2/3 while Pattimura beat the Volta Manado team 249-175 in the five-session semifinals.

The semifinals should have had six sessions, but participants and organizers agreed to shorten the semifinals after both national team and Pattimura got far ahead on the scoresheet.

The national team is being groomed to compete in the Bermuda Bowl in Bermuda from Jan. 8 to Jan. 21.

The national Venice Cup team, which will compete in the Venice Cup at the same place and time, lost in the quarterfinals.

The final, which uses 128 boards, will finish on Saturday and is scheduled to be closed by the Indonesian Contract Bridge Association (GABSI) chairman, Wiranto. (yan)
