National chess c'ship in Bali

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Chess Association (Percasi) will
hold its national championships in Denpasar, Bali, from July 9 to
July 19, with the knock-out format being used in the men's senior
division.

"We will use a knock-out format in the men's senior division,
leaving only 16 players in the main round. The qualification
round will use the Swiss format, which will also be used in other
divisions. It's the first time we have used this format in a
national event," Percasi spokesman Kristianus Liem said in a fax.

Percasi will also emphasize fair play at the event, in which
28 participants will take part. (nvn)
