Nadzmi Salleh heads BAM

JAKARTA (JP): Datuk Nadzmi Salleh was appointed on Saturday to chair the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) which has been left vacant since former president Abdullah Fadzil Che Wan resigned in July following the failure to win the Thomas Cup in Kuala Lumpur in May.

Nadzmi expressed the hope that local coaches would learn valuable lessons from their foreign counterparts in order to be able to hold their own in the near future.

"It is good to have foreign coaches but we need to have understudies who can benefit from their experience," he said as quoted by New Strait Times.

BAM is currently hiring Park Joo-bong of South Korea and will have another foreign coach namely, Indra Gunawan from Indonesia who will begin his tenure on Jan. 3. (yan)
