Mysterious murder

Recently local TV reported that a man traveling on an express train from Surabaya to Jakarta was killed when he went to the bathroom on the train. But the circumstances of the murder were so mysterious that it is comparable to a Sherlock Holmes story.

The man apparently went to Surabaya to see his son win a gold medal for gymnastics at the National Games (PON). The man was apparently killed by a fatal stab wound to the throat and the killer (or killers) threw the dead body out of the moving train in the vicinity of the town of Blora in Central Java.

What baffled many people was the fact that his gold ring and Rp 3 million in his pocket were untouched. This led people to believe that the motive of the murder was not robbery.

Further, many people concluded that the murder was committed by professional killers because none of the train passengers noticed anything amiss and it only came to light when the victim did not return from the toilet and the corpse was found on the railway tracks.

A picture of the victim was shown on TV and it turned out that the man owned a shop in the market in my neighborhood. Needless to say, all the people in the market were shocked and the murder was a topic of conversation for days. To date no arrest has been made, so the murder is still shrouded in mystery.
