JAKARTA (JP): German state-owned trade fair organizer Messe
Munchen International will hold an exhibition in the Myanmarese
capital of Yangon in cooperation with Myanmar's Industrial
Development Committee.

The company's managing director, Reinhold Unterburger, said
yesterday that about 100 international exhibitors from Europe and
Asia would participate in the exhibition, which will be held in
October.

"Companies like Siemens of Germany, Alcatel of France,
Daimler-Benz of Germany and PT Astra Graphia of Indonesia will
take part," Unterburger said.

"The political and economic situations in Myanmar are not as
bad we have seen and read in the media."

He said he expected more companies to participate in the
exhibition even though British and U.S. companies have said they
would not attend. (10)
