Music based on Sapardi's poems at TIM

There are several ways for people to enjoy or appreciate the poems they love: one way is read them; another is to turn them into song lyrics.

Several fans of Indonesia's well-known poet Sapardi Djoko Damono have done something different: They have made musical compositions based on his most famous poem titled Hujan Bulan Juni (Rain in June). They will stage their compositions in Graha Bakti Budaya at Ismail Marzuki Art Center (TIM) for two days performance starting on July 20.

The musicians, Reda Gaudiamo, Tantyana Soebianto, Jubing Kristianto, M. Umar Muslim and Bambang Dipuro, will play the compositions that have recorded on two albums "Hujan Bulan Juni" (1990) and "Hujan dalam Komposisi" (Rain in Composition) (1996).

The entrance fees for the performance, which is being organized by TIM in cooperation with the Indonesian Artists' Cooperative, are Rp 20,000 for the 1 p.m. show, and Rp 25,000 and Rp 30,000 for the 8 p.m. performance.
