Museums to exhibit wedding dresses

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: A grand exhibition of traditional wedding
dresses will be held in the Aceh State Museum next month.

To be joined by eight museums in the eight provinces of the
Sumatra Island, the week-long exhibition will also display
traditional wedding customs.

The museums which will take part in the event are those from
the provinces of South, North and West Sumatra, from Aceh, Bandar
Lampung, Jambi, Bengkulu and Riau.

"This event will be held in relation to the celebration of the
golden anniversary of our country's independence," said Aceh
Museum spokesman Nasruddin Sulaiman.

Also in connection with Independence Day, the Aceh Museum will
hold a writing contest for junior high school students. The theme
will be "the use of museums to provide students with recreational
as well as educational experiences". (swe)
