Museno opens city meeting

Deputy Governor R.S. Museno opened a two-day coordination
meeting between the municipal social office and the city chapter
of the ministry of social services on Monday.

Governor Surjadi Soedirdja in his written speech read by
Museno said that the meeting was held to forge stronger
coordination and cooperation between the provincial
administration's body and the central government's body.

He also stressed that the government should avoid overlapping
of their jobs and the municipal office of social services should
base its activities on the 1983 Provincial Regulation No. 9 which
regulates its formation, function and organizational structure.
Along these lines, he said the city chapter of the ministry of
social services should base its activities on the 1984 decree No.
16 issued by the minister of social services regarding the city
chapter's organization and working procedures.

The governor also urged the participants attending the meeting
to find ways not only to solve the city's nagging problems such
as those of the disabled, orphans, beggars, prostitution, but
also a number of new problems such as male prostitution.

The meeting is being attended by 224 participants.(03)
