Murder suspects identified

JAKARTA (JP): Police have identified the people who allegedly killed a construction worker and dumped the body in a ditch on Jl. Gusti Ngurah Rai, Klender, East Jakarta.

The identities of the suspects, believed to have known the victim well, were revealed by eyewitnesses, City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang said yesterday.

He, however, refused to disclose their names.

The victim, identified as Sudrajat, 23, a resident of Pondok Kopi, was found dead in the ditch Wednesday with a severe wound in his neck.

Police said that the victim had been stabbed with a sickle.

According to his friend, Sudrajat was off on Wednesday.

"Sudrajat told his brother that he wanted to go to Yogya department store in Klender to window shop," said Sunardi.

Sunardi said that the victim had few friends but did not have any enemies.

Aritonang quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the victim was familiar with the suspects.

"The eyewitnesses said that Sudrajat and the suspects were involved in a quarrel at the department store in Klender hours before he was found dead," Aritonang said. (04)
