Munir's death

The autopsy report on Munir leaves me feeling angry and sad. If Munir was murdered then the government should leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrator to justice.

Munir was a truly good man who understood that money, power and position are but transient things that come and go and that the true value of a man lies in his courage, his generosity and compassion, his dedication and loyalty to an ideal, the sacrifices that he makes and the love that he gives and receives from people.

I have heard that Munir once wrote a very beautiful piece on love. It would be very fitting if The Jakarta Post could have it translated and publish it and it would be even more fitting if the President were to give Munir a Mahaputra (first class) award and his wife a decent pension.

Surely that is the very least that our country can do for a man who was a true hero and who it would appear has given up his very life to make this a more just and safe society.

As for Garuda, well things really seem to be going from bad to worse. I mean what can one say? Until this matter is satisfactorily cleared up should we all bring our own rantang (food kept in a special container) when flying Garuda? And by the way, should we exhume Baharudin Lopa and do an autopsy on him too?
