Munir's autopsy report next month

JAKARTA: The post-mortem report of prominent rights activist Munir, who died onboard a Garuda flight heading to the Netherlands early last month, is expected to be issued next month, his colleague said.

Usman Hamid, chairman of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras) which Munir co-founded, said on Friday the Schiphol airport authority had told him that they expected to issue the autopsy report in November.

"They said the report will be sent to Munir's family only but a copy will go to Indonesia's government," said Usman, who flew to Amsterdam to collect Munir's remains.

Munir's family and fellow activists demanded an autopsy following reports that he died after suffering abdominal pain. He vomited several times some three hours after the plane left Singapore. -- JP
