Multipolar, Cisco tie up

JAKARTA (JP): Publicly listed Multipolar Corp. of the Lippo Group will cooperate with the U.S.-based inter-networking service provider Cisco System to develop broadband infrastructures and cybertechnology services in Indonesia.

Multipolar's president Jeffrey Wonsono said here on Monday the development of the new infrastructures and services was expected to support Multipolar accomplishing its goal to become a premier provider in the broadband and cybertechnology sectors.

"The new broadband and cybertechnology will enable Multipolar to offer value added services to Internet and e-commerce users," he said.

Multipolar, which is listed on the Jakarta and Surabaya Stock Exchanges, announced last month it would invest Rp 130 billion (US$18.5 million) in fiber-optic lines in order to offer high- speed internet access service to offices particularly located at Jakarta's "golden triangle" business district.
