Multimedia seminar in Bali

JAKARTA (JP): A seminar on the readiness of the multimedia infrastructure to combat piracy in Indonesia is slated to be held at the Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua, Bali on Dec. 14 and Dec. 15.

The seminar, intended to be of interest to anyone who is concerned with multimedia, music, video, entertainment, software and telecommunications, is being organized by PT Lasindo Multimedia 2000.

Santosa, Lasindo managing director, said here on Friday that the seminar, entitled The Net @ Anti-Piracy 2000 would be a forerunner for the MIDEM Asia 2001 conference scheduled to take place in Bali next June.

MIDEM (Marche International du Disque, de L'Edition Musicale et de la Video Musique) is an integrated industrial organization dealing with music, video, entertainment, software and multimedia and is based in Paris.

The seminar is scheduled to be opened by Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Amien Rais, and the keynote speakers will include Minister of Communications and Telecommunications Agum Gumelar and Minister of Industry and Trade Luhut B. Panjaitan.

Edward P. Murphy, a multimedia expert from the National Music Publishers Association in America would also attend the two-day seminar, Santosa said.
