Mt. Muller: A natural wonder
PURUKCAHU, Central Kalimantan: The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) is to send four teams on an expedition to the Muller mountain in Central Kalimantan to document its flora and fauna for inclusion as a Natural World Heritage.
LIPI scientist Hendrian, whose advance team arrived here on Friday, said each team would consist of six people on a 30-day mission to record the flora and fauna of the mountain.
Located on the northern tip of Central Kalimantan, the mountain spans 869,000 hectares and has an altitude of 1,021 meters.
Hendrian said that specialists would accompany each team, including a cultural liaison specialist to communicate with the tribespeople living in the region.
The four teams would arrive separately in May, August, September and October, he added. -- Antara
