M'sian palm firm eyes RI expansion

JAKARTA: Malaysian company Negeri Sembilan Oil Palms Bhd (NSOP) has expressed a keen interest in developing oil palm plantations in Indonesia as part of its expansion plan.

NSOP operating director Wong Aun Phui said in Kuala Lumpur late last week that the company would work together with other Malaysian companies such as Timor Oil Palm Plantations Bhd, Eng Thye Plantation, Chin Teck Plantation Bhd, and Seong They Plantations Sdn Bhd in developing the Indonesian oil palm plantations.

He said NSOP would invest about 2.88 million Malaysian ringgit (about Rp 7.4 billion or US$789,947) in the joint venture.

Besides investing in Indonesia, the company also plans to launch an oil palm plantation in its home country of Malaysia. (07)
