Mr. Fust
Mr. Fust
I read the letter of Mr. T.C. Scott in The Jakarta Post, Aug.
8, 1995 which informed that a German national named Guenther Fust
passed away.
I did not know the late Herr Fust personally but I had heard
of his contribution to the kelurahan (village) of Pulau Kelapa.
Last year I went to Kelapa Island in the Seribu archipelago in
North Jakarta. There I met with Bapak Marzuki Samian, the former
lurah (village chief) of Pulau Kelapa. He told me a lot about
this village and its people and he also said that there was an
old invalid German national who lived on one of the islands and
contributed to his village. At the time I was not curious enough
to ask who the German national was. If Mr. Scot's letter hadn't
appeared in the Post, I would have remained ignorant of this
philanthropic German.
