Mountain climber's body recovered

KUNINGAN, West Java: Rescue workers recovered the body of 21- year-old Iwan who fell into the cauldron of Mount Ciremai in Kungingan regency on Oct. 25, 2001 and it was evacuated to the general hospital for autopsy before being handed over to his relatives.

Iwan, a resident of Cantilan Village, in the regency, fell into the mount's crater when he along with four other villagers climbed the mountain.

The evacuation of Iwan's deceased took seven hours because the poor condition of weather and road to the mountain's peak.

"The evacuation took seven hours because rescuer workers have many difficulties to reach the mountain's cauldron," said Eman, a rescuer worker. --JP
